Mark Heffley as Phase 1's True Villain

Mark Heffley is honestly the real villain of Phase 1, not Kasey like you might think at first. Kasey's trapped in the Theaneb dimension obsessing over the pocketwatch, but Mark? He's the dude actually pulling strings from Montreal.

Mark invented the StarGazer, which is kinda the whole reason everything goes wrong. Starting in Ep2 "A Tale Of Incidents," he begins messing with the trio directly. The guy's willing to sacrifice literally everyone—even his own daughter Kasey—just to get recognition. That's cold, ngl.

What makes him scary is that he's not some interdimensional threat or whatever. He's just a neighbor with ambition and zero moral limits. He engineered the reality tear that shows up in Ep3, which brings the Interdimensional Being into play. By Ep4 "A Fading Shamrock," the Father's threat gets stopped, but the damage is done. Matthew dies saving Montreal, and it's kinda all because Mark started this whole mess.

The tragic part? Pat, Sarah, and Matthew have to deal with consequences of Mark's actions. Pat stumbles through everything by accident, Sarah's already anxious, and Matthew literally sacrifices himself. Mark doesn't even get his hands dirty—he just sets events in motion and watches the chaos unfold.

So yeah, Mark's the real architect of Phase 1. Kasey's a threat, but Mark's the mastermind. Pretty messed up that he's just some regular guy living on their street.
