Pat's Accidental Heroism

How Pat's complete cluelessness and confusion drive the entire plot of Clover Chaos without him even realizing it.
Pat is honestly the most unintentional hero ever. Like, he's not brave, he's not smart, he just kinda... stumbles into everything and somehow makes it worse AND better at the same time?? The whole thing is that he has the magical pocketwatch but he has NO IDEA what he's doing with it. He just uses it by accident and it creates these insane situations.
Tbh what makes Pat so good is that he's not the lone savior or whatever. He literally cannot save Montreal by himself. He needs Sarah (who's anxious af but actually rly competent when it matters) and Matthew (who's grumpy and acts like he doesn't care but literally dies helping them). That's the whole point — it takes all three of them, and even then, Matthew pays the ultimate price. Pat fumbles around, Sarah figures stuff out, Matthew makes the hard calls.
The pocketwatch is like... chaotic in his hands. He activates it without understanding what it does. He accidentally opens rifts. He sorta just bounces around from one disaster to another, and because he's there, everyone else gets dragged into it. But also? That chaos is what stops Mark Heffley's plan. His cluelessness accidentally counters the whole scheme.
Pat's basically proof that you dont need to be a hero to save the day. You just need friends who actually know whats going on lol. Ngl kinda genius writing.
